Got Sun? and Community Solar
Minnesota has great incentives for solar power! All Minnesota homes and businesses can take advantage of a 30% federal energy tax credit, in place until 2016 with no cap.
If your utility is Xcel Energy, Minnesota Power, or Otter Tail Power, there are additional solar incentives available. The new program was voted into law in May 2013, and opens January 1, 2014. If you have ever thought about going solar, this fall is your best time to find out more information and what would work at your home or business!
The utility programs will accept applications January 1 - February 28 for the 2014 fiscal year. Call us NOW for a free assessment or click here to submit a request online.
Minnesota's FIRST Fronius Authorized Service Provider
Earlier this year, Powerfully Green completed Fronius Authorized Service Provider training for both residential and commercial line inverters. We are now a part of the Fronius Authorized Service Provider program. We are aiming to ensure your bottom line and uptime.
MN Community Solar Gardens
Coming Soon to Your Neighborhood: Community Solar Gardens!
Community solar allows anyone in Xcel Energy territory to invest in a solar system. If solar won’t work at your location, or you just want to invest in more solar than you can fit at your home or business, this is another opportunity to benefit from solar power and the available incentives. Each participant in a community solar garden project subscribes to a share of the community solar garden. Participants jointly share in the benefits of energy produced as a credit against their utility bill. You can buy one solar share or many -- the investment choice is yours and the energy produced is yours.
September 30, 2013 is an initial deadline for Xcel Energy to submit their Community Solar Gardens program ideas to the Public Utility Commission (PUC) for approval. There will be several stages of comments before the details are finalized, so it is too early to sign up for a project, but it’s not too early to get excited about the new law allowing community solar gardens in Minnesota!
At Powerfully Green we are following this development closely, so we can keep you up to date. Our finance partners developed and installed the very first community solar project in the nation, and the largest community solar project to date in the State of Washington. These community solar projects are solar power plants that are designed to be producing electricity for decades. Trusting your project to experts with experience makes sense. Powerfully Green will develop, install, and maintain community solar projects as soon as they are allowed by the PUC and the utility. We hope to be developing some of these projects for spring/summer of 2014. Keep in touch to stay informed!

Solar EVs and Plug-in Hybrids
In case you didn't know, we converted our 2007 Toyota Prius to a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) back in the fall of 2010, and now upgraded to a 10kW Li-battery, summer 2012. We put 10 kWh of our excess solar power a day into our Prius. Which gives us an equivalent of 85+ mpg at highway speeds and over 100+ mpg city driving. If you see this vehicle say hello!
